Django for Mac

Python and an isolated Django CLI, managed with uv.

Django development tools

$(...) captures the download in script. && runs Bash only if the download succeeds. Nothing runs while the download is in progress.

The outer parentheses keep that variable out of your current shell. This does not verify the downloaded code; use Download before running to inspect it first.

Copy command Open Terminal Paste Run
  1. Copy command Review, then click Copy.
  2. Open Terminal Command + Space to open Spotlight Type Terminal, then Return
  3. Paste Command + V
  4. Run Return Follow the prompts.

Download before running

This command downloads the script for inspection. It does not run the installer.

curl -fsSL https://maci.sh/install/django.sh -o macish-django.sh

After reviewing the file, run it separately:

bash macish-django.sh

Installs Django 5.2 as an isolated uv tool and adds django-admin to your zsh PATH.

For each project, add Django with uv add "Django>=5.2,<5.3". No database service is started; Django projects can use SQLite.
